.:My 1968 Pontiac Firebird:.

About 6 months ago a friend of mine offered me this 1968 Firebird and some cash for my 2002 Mustang GT. After going to his brothers house to look at it and driving it I decided to go ahead and make the deal. After all, my 2002 Mustang GT would only continue to depreciate in value and this 1968 Pontiac Firebird would and could only appreciate in value.

So we made the deal and I took my new 1968 Pontiac Firebird home to start the long process of restoring it. From what I have been able to find out the motor is a 400ci out of a 1978 Trans Am, the transmission is a TH350 (soon to be swapped for a TH400) and worst of all the rearend is geared for drag racing. Luckily the car is extremely solid with only a little bit of rust in the trunk. He had already sanded the car down to the metal so his brother had agreed to spray it with a black sealer to prevent it from rusting.

As of right now it sits with the sealer coat on it and only the seats in it. I figured I would get the car mechanically sound first (wiring, rearend gears changed, transmission checked out and the motor checked out), then put all new interior in it and then finally get it painted. It is going to be long process but when it is finished it will be something that I can pass down to my son and so on. I can't wait...
